A Week in Google Ads – 20th July

My new website went live last week. Every page rebuilt from scratch and I tested it on so many different screens that I eventually ended up loading it on the treadmill at the gym.

Either thorough or a warning sign. I’m still not sure which.

The rest of the week was client work.

Google is changing how budget-limited Target CPA and Target ROAS campaigns behave from 17 August. Campaigns that have been quietly beating their target will start moving closer to the target you actually set.

So I spent the start of the week going through every account this could affect and putting a plan in place where needed.

Then:

• A funeral director client relaunched their website, so I added new sitelinks, reworked the campaign structure and rebuilt the conversion tracking around the new pages.

• A performance review call with a courier client, looking at what is working and where the next gains are likely to come from. We’ve been working together for eight years now, which is something I definitely don’t take for granted.

• Launched a new location test for them off the back of that call.

• Reviewed search terms on a corporate photography account. The search terms have been much cleaner this week, so CPCs have gone up to buy more of the right traffic. The longer-term plan is to move towards Maximise Conversions once there’s enough volume to justify it.

Another busy week ticked off.
